The Amazing True Story of How Babies are Made is the animated adaptation of the illustrated children’s book of the same name.
It started when author/illustrator Fiona Katauskas went to buy a sex education book for her 8 year old son. She was amazed to still find the same book her mother read her as a child, which was originally published in 1973! A lot had changed in 40 years, and the publishing world hadn’t kept up.
As an award-winning cartoonist she quickly went to work to rectify that — creating a book that was fun and non-threatening, yet accurate and in tune with modern times. Fiona hit a nerve, the book
was a smash hit with kids, parents and teachers and is now in its sixth reprint. The book was shortlisted for the Australian Children’s Book of the Year Award, 2016.
